Underfloor Heating

Underfloor heating (UFH) is an efficient heating solution where the floor surface is heated, allowing heat to radiate and convect throughout the space, creating a comfortable and consistent thermal environment. Modern underfloor heating** systems typically use hydronic (fluid-flowing) technology to distribute warmth across the floor.

Unlike traditional radiators, which rely on high temperatures to heat a small area, underfloor heating operates at lower temperatures. This is because the heating surface covers a much larger area, distributing heat more evenly and effectively across the room. This makes underfloor heating a more energy-efficient option, providing warmth without the need for excessive heat.

Underfloor heating can be installed in both new-build properties and as a retrofit solution for existing spaces. It can function as the primary heating source for the entire home or be used to provide supplemental, localized warmth in specific areas, such as bathrooms or kitchens. Additionally, it can be paired with renewable heat sources, such as heat pumps, and integrated with thermal mass or night-time purging strategies to maximize energy efficiency.

The systems can be either modular, offering flexibility for easy installation, or custom-designed to suit the specific needs of your space. To minimize heat loss, underfloor heating systems typically include insulation beneath the heating source. Whether you’re upgrading your current heating system or designing a new one, underfloor heating offers a modern, energy-efficient way to keep your home warm and comfortable.

A traditional gas boiler can run underfloor heating, as well as an Air Source Heat Pump.
